Card Sketch Challenge and...winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Have you heard about the sketch challenge over at Hip 2B Square? There are actually TWO challenges going on right now...a card sketch AND a layout sketch.

I created this card with product from the March Hip Kit. The grid stamp is from the American Crafts 'Jared' clear stamp sent found in the March Embellishment Kit.

Want to play along? All you have to do is create a card inspired by this sketch. You can use any supplies you wish! Cards, Cards, Cards

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday to you!
Just popping in to share some of the cards I created with the May Hip Kit.

I sprayed the naked star with Studio Calico Mister Huey in School House Red and
covered it with Martha Stewart's fun vintage-like glitter.
The sentiment is a Stampin' Up stamp from my stash.

and American Crafts cardstock in Cricket & White.

Happy Thursday!

Good day, friends!
Back today to share a couple more layouts that I created using the Hip 2B Square March Hip Kit. The design team was asked to use this Hip Sketch for one of our layouts...

Here's what I came up with...

For this layout, I had fun playing with mist & paint. I used the Mister Huey in Schoolhouse Red (again, on the Studio Calico wood veneer letters), AppleJack & Sunshine, plus some white acrylic paint. By dipping my paint brush directly in the Mister Huey Sunshine, I was able to create a golden wash in some areas of the background. With a touch of water added, it created an even softer glow. 

Then rather than spraying the mist I unscrewed the top & just flicked ink on the page. (Be sure you're not wearing a white t-shirt & that you have your work space protected when you do this...trust me!) Since I don't have any of the white or cream Mister Huey, I added water to some white acrylic paint until I had a nice fluid paint & then flicked that on the background too. The thicker acrylic paint added some fun texture!

I have soooo many photos from January's winter CHA...so much inspiration there that I couldn't resist trying to capture all the eye candy to be had. I printed out some of my favorites. Still too many to use on one layout, so I decided to make library card pockets that could hold multiple pictures. Each pocket holds about eight tags. On each tag I can journal 'I Spy...' and a little bit about each picture.

Here's a picture of what these layouts look like together as a two-pager. (Sorry for the crooked-y shot, but you can get the idea.) I think I'll use this same idea for one of our summer adventures this year!

Who's up for a Challenge?

It's challenge time over at Citrus Tree Studio! Today kicks off the Design Team's December challenges. This month, I have another sketch challenge to share. Here's my sketch...

And here's my layout based on the sketch...

So many things to be merry about this month!
The chipboard garland at the top & the chipboard package under the tree are from my stash, but all the other products used in this layout can be found in the CTS 'Holiday Hoopla' December kit. The tree paper is actually two pieces from the 6x6 paper pad in the kit that I pieced together.

Hip Kit October Projects

When my October Hip Kit and Add On kits arrived from Hip 2B Square, I was amazed at how much product there was. Tons of Fall and Halloween themed goodness! (Be sure to go warm up your coffee now, because there are a load of photos on this post!) Here's what I came up with using the October kits...

This next layout was based on a sketch by our DT Coordinator, Melanie Jarocki. Here's the sketch...

 And here's what I came up with...

For the leaves, I roughly traced a leaf from our yard, cut several out of cardstock from the kit, inked the edges & stitched them to my page for some added texture. These October Afternoon cardstock alphabet stickers are great I've used them on many projects. I do love the Robin's egg blue and orange color combo!

The ribbon kit had this cool black & white striped crepe paper in it. To make the lollipop on this next card, I rolled the crepe paper ribbon into a spiral circle and used Glossy Accents on it. I cut down a BBQ skewer for the stick and voila...

Besides the layouts and cards, I was inspired to create a few other projects with the goodies from the kit. I embellished a bottle and a couple of jars for some Halloween decor...

On the jar to the right, I used one of the Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus rub ons . A neon yellow candle looks perfect burning in the jar...and ironically is a 'Hocus Pocus' candle from PartyLite! The tall jar in the middle is wrapped with the Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus paper & I added a little dark brown glitter to embellish it. The little vintage bottle to the left is embellished with one of the tags from the Graphic 45 Hallo'ween in Wonderland collection, black & white bakers twine and some cute little buttons...

And the last project I created with this kit is a Mad Hatter's paper chain...it looks super cute hanging in one of our bathrooms against the wall that is painted 'Dill Pickle'. The strips & tags come on a couple of 12x12 sheets...you just have to punch them out. I stapled the strips together into a chain & embellished with bits of ribbon, buttons & the tags. Super simple & fun!

Meet my Sketch...

Hello my friends! Wanted to share one more layout I created using the Citrus Tree Studio 'Something to Celebrate' kit...

My Mind's Eye Challenge #12: I Remember

My Mind's Eye is one of my favorite brands. I love their pretty papers, cute titles & journaling cards. I decided to play along with their Blog Challenge #12 - to create an 'I Remember' layout based on this sketch:

This is a really great sketch. You can flip it any which way, and it makes a super layout! Here's my take on it, using an old photo of my dear grandma & I...

I rotated the sketch clockwise so I could incorporate the Jenni Bowlin 'ADORE' Bingo card in as my title. I used papers from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary 'Jack & Jill' and 'Sooo Cute' lines, stickers from the My Mind's Eye So Sophie Savvy line, vintage seam binding, Martha Stewart bakers twine & a few vintage buttons. Distressed some edges & did a little stitching. I do love these colors together!

The theme was 'I Remember', but the note I included on my layout just states

'remember * i will always adore you'
