Sheet Music Wreath

I've been loving the various wreaths that I've been seeing made out of old sheet music or books and a while back I purchased a whole bundle of sheet music & old piano books on eBay. The box must have weighed 20 pounds, at least!

I finally purchased a 12" styrofoam wreath form, pulled out my glue gun, and just one hot glue blistered finger later...

It turned out much fuller than some of the other wreaths I've been seeing, but it has grown on me!

One of my favorite things about this are the pencil marks on so many of the pages...dates and notes about sections to practice. One note reads 'each descending arpeggio 10 times daily and slowly' - written in this lovely cursive writing. The word 'slowly' being underlined twice. Reminds me of my piano lesson days & my sweet teacher, Mrs. Paulsrude.

Random Scrappin'

Last week I spent an evening with two of my scrapbooking peeps & worked on a layout for Crate Paper's August sketch challenge. I rotated the sketch one turn to the right and came up with this...

I used papers & rub ons from Crate Paper's Season collection & a bit of paper from their Lillian collection (one of my favorites!), along with my new love...Washi tape! And, another cute photo of my sis & niece...

I've been trying really hard to cut back on the amount of scraps that I save, so after I finished my layout I created these cards to use up all the bits I had leftover.

I think this next one is my favorite of the four...

Thanks for taking a peek at my blog, friends! And thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind, encouraging comments these past months as I've started this new blogging adventure. I LOVE reading each & every one...and love this crafting community so very much.

What makes you happy?

Have you ever created a layout that documented your favorite things - any old thing that makes you so very happy at this point in time? Here's one of my recent layouts that does just that...

This layout documents 10 things that I love. Right now. Very random things. Happy stuff.

It was such fun to make this page...and I encourage you to give it a go! Afterall, how often do you create a page that is purely dedicated to yourself - your likes/dislikes or how you're feeling at a specific moment? I read that Amy Tangerine creates a monthly 'Love List' layout. Love that idea! I'm going to make a point of doing this every so often.

Take a look...

...over here at the Crate Paper blog. My old friend, Amy Heller, is one of the very talented CP Girls. Look at the garland she created for her tutorial today. It's right in line with the theme of my blog post from this morning! I guess great minds think alike!! LOL! I love how she used the different shapes & back to school theme for her garland. Love her school note envelope project too..so cute!! For more inspiration, go check out Amy's blog, Paush Design & Paperie Sweets, here. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

A New Punch

I bought the Martha Stewart  1" Pointed Circle punch last week...and went utterly punch happy with my scrap pile!

I turned this pile into this...

I ran the punched pieces through the sewing machine, with a simple straight stitch, and a festive little garland was born! So fun! I originally saw these garlands used here and here. This garland makes me feel like having a party...just to celebrate pretty paper & creativity! Wanna join me?

a Mini for Monday...

Hi friends!
Here to share a mini album that I'm getting ready to send off to my dear, dear friend Joanna...

Her sweet baby girls were born in April...and isn't this Rub On perfect with the two little duckings?! I used products from October Afternoon's 'Ducks in a Row' line. Love. It. The green Houndstooth & the cute little yellow ducklings are just adorable!

I love Rub Ons...but can't stand stubborn Rub Ons. You know what I mean? The ones that won't come off the backing, no matter how hard you press on it or how many times you rub over it!?! October Afternoon makes great Rub Ons...they go on nice & smooth, just like butter. And, they're so very cute, to boot! I used Rub Ons to spell out the girls' names too, but those are from Jenni Bowlin. Her company makes great Rub Ons too! (OK...how many times can one say 'Rub Ons' in one post!? Apparently a lot.)

I'm off to the Post Office now! Thanks for visiting & have a very happy day...

Meet Mort

I'd like you to meet Mort & one of my darling nieces, Ashley B...

Aren't they both the cutest??
For a school project, Ashley B. designed, cut & stitched the lovely, lavender Mort all by herself! The girl has talent, I tell ya. The other puppet peeking over her shoulder is Mini Me Mr. Lee, a puppet made by her teacher...with a very striking resemblance to himself.

In this layout I used paper & rub-ons from American Crafts' Craft Fair line. Don't you just love that little sewing machine rub-on? I do! I cut the buttons out of the 'Ruth Buttonham' paper (this paper line also has the best names - 'Lola Threadgood', 'Doris Spooler' & 'Pearl Bobbinhauser', to name a few - aren't those names just too darn cute?). I backed the paper buttons with chipboard & covered them with a layer of Diamond Glaze for a shiny coating.

And now, for some odd reason, I have the catchy theme song to The Muppet Show stuck in my head! You know the one...'It's time to play the music, It's time to light the lights, It's time to meet the muppets on The Muppet Show tonight!' Ah, that tune brings back memories! (I loved eating popcorn & watching The Muppet Show with my grandpa Morrow - such good times.) And with that my friends, it's time for me to sign off AND apologize for getting that song stuck in your head too.
