Photo Flashback & December 2013 Hip Kit

Hi friends!
Remember me?! Happy 2014. Hope the new year is off to a great start for you!
I'm excited for a new year, more creative fun and much more consistency on this blog.

Today I'm sharing a layout that I created using the fun December 2013 Hip Kit.
The December kit if FULL of great patterns, colors and embellishments...

Even though the kit has a lot of bright and cheery colors in it, I was able to create a soft, neutral layout for this 'vintage' winter photo I found...

I love the soft grey, minty green and white color palette with just a pop of that pretty golden yellow.
I used lots of layers on this project, which is a good example of how well the papers in these Hip Kits always coordinate so great! Lots of layers, patterns & texture going on, without it distracting too much from the photo...and the vellum is an awesome addition to these layers.

I also added some vellum snowflake punched shapes to this project. These give it even more texture, again, without being a distraction on the layout. I tucked a few snowflakes here and there between the layers.

The scalloped circle is a piece of the naked chipboard shapes included in the December 2013 Embellishment Kit. These are really fun to alter in all sorts of ways to personalize them for your projects - you can ink or mist them to change the color, glitter them, apply Versamark ink and emboss them (this works great using the white or gold Zing Embossing Powders from the December 2013 Stamp Kit!) or cover them with patterned paper. I used some Impress Fresh Ink to color this one and layered one of the wood veneer pieces on top to make it stand out.

Be sure to visit the Hip Kit Club's new website (hipkitclub.net) to check out all the details on the December 2013 Hip Kit and Add-On Kits, as well as the current January 2014 Hip Kit and the soon-to-be released February 2014 Hip Kit! From there, go check out the Hip Kit Club blog for lots of project inspiration from the Design Team using all of these kits!

Happy scrapping!

October Mini

Hi friends!

Those of you who follow me on Instagram, know I take WAY too many Instagram photos, but it is such a fun and easy way to document life's daily adventures. I figured creating a mini album would be a fun way to document some of my favorite Instagrams from the month!

Here's the cover of my mini...

I love the gold washi from our October Embellishment Add-On Kit.  (I know I'm not alone!). I like how it looks like gold leaf on the chipboard frame. AND those gold glitter Thickers? Super FUN!

Be sure to check out the other Design Team projects over on the Hip Kit blog here and if you don't have your hands on the October Hip Kit & Add-On Kits? You'll want to check those out here.

Thanks for stopping by!
Wishing you a happy & creative day...

Hot Cakes Documented

Hi friends!
Here's another layout that I created with product from the January 2013 Hip Kit.

Things I love about this layout...
- The Instagram prints from my birthday celebration in January (If you are ever in Ballard, you MUST go to Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery...have the S'mores! DELISH!)
- The color combo...turqoise, red, gold & wood grain. Yum.
- That metallic polka dot vellum...so fun!
- Those lacy paper doilies.
- All the amazing embellishments from the January Hip Kit (sweet embellishments from Elle's Studio, American Crafts Dear Lizzy, Studio Calico and those great alpha stickers from October Afternoon)

Hope you're having a very happy and creative week!

Playing Along with Miss Bossy Pants

Hi friends!
As I mentioned the other day, one of my favorite sources of inspiration & a way to get my mojo movin' is to visit Moxie Fab World. Another favorite way is by playing along with The Bossy Scrapper.
My friend Kim was February's Bossy Scrapper and here was her list of items that had to be used to create a project...

1. Only two photos - Check.
2. Ink or Mist - Check. (I used Heidi Swapp Colorshine - one of my current favorite products!)
3. Tag - Check.
4. Camera - Check. (The cutest ever felt camera sticker from Amy Tangerine.)
5. Fussy Cutting - Check. (I cut those fun circles from some Studio Calico patterned paper.)
6. Hand Written Journaling - Check! (But I did screw that up and had to creatively cover it up!)
7. White Cardstock - Check.
8. A Popped Up Element -  Check (That cute camera is popped up.)
9. Alpha Stickers - Check.

This layout was so fun to create...I loved playing with all the different layers, colors & textures. Totally fun.

I was not happy about journaling on the textured cardstock...and then I mispelled 'Laboratory', so I had to figure out how to cover it up. But I actually like how it turned out in the end - a happy mistake!

A new Bossy Scrapper has been posted for March here. I'm totally inspired by Aimee's bossiness and can't wait to play along!

Perfectly Lovely

Hi friends!
Normally when I create layouts, I create 12x12 layouts. Pretty much because most of the page protectors I've purchased are 12x12 and because it gives me a larger canvas to create on. But let me tell you how awesome it was to create this 8 1/2 x 11 layout...

So much fun! I may be a 8.5 x 11 Convert now...especially for my favorite Instagram prints. It's the perfect size for those!

I created this layout with product from the January Hip Kit and Embellishment Kit.
I used several of my favorite products from these kits on this layout...
The 'Love' patterned paper from Crate Paper's Fourteen collection is aptly name...I love both the graphic pink & white target print, as well as the pretty floral on the other side. I wrinkled up some of the gold dot vellum in the Embellishment kit to add some fun texture to the layers on my project...and speaking of vellum, how cool are those Studio Calico vellum arrow stickers?! Definitely at the top of my current favorite product list. I like how both the patterned paper & the arrow stickers help draw the eye in to the photo on the page.

To create the title on this layout, I used one of the Fancy Pants Designs stencil cards. I splattered some Mister Huey 'Silver' and Heidi Swapp 'Primrose' Colorshine on the stencil card, layered it over a small piece of the floral print Crate Paper Love paper, then adhered the My Mind's Eye chipboard sentiment on top with some Basic Grey enameled brads from my stash.
Perfectly lovely, indeed! (If I do say so myself!) :)

Sending Love

Hi friends!
Today I'm sharing a handful of Valentine cards that I created with the colorful and sweet January Hip Kit and Embellishment Kit. And actually, all but one of these could be sent to someone you love at any time of year!

One of my favorite products from the January Hip Kit is the Studio Calico Vellum die cut shapes - especially the hearts & arrows. These transparent stickers are so fun for layering on projects!

I used the Fancy Pants Designs Artist Edition Stencil Card 'LOVE' to help create the next two cards...

On the card above, I inked the punched out letters from the stencil with grey chalk ink...and on the below card, using the stencil, I traced the word LOVE then machine stitched on my traced lines. These stencils are great! There are so many different ways to use them on projects.

Be sure to pop over to the Hip 2-B Square blog to see the amazing projects that the Design Team has come up with...and the way they've used their Fancy Pants stencils from the kit!

Hello Spring

This morning I woke up and the first thing I heard? The sweet birds chirping away! Oh, how I love this. Spring is surely on its way!

This card was created with product found in the January Hip Kit & January Embellishment Kit.
Totally love that chevron patterned paper from Dear Lizzy's 5th & Frolic collection, the button embellishments from My Mind's Eye and the sweet Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic chipboard Bits. I added just a bit of sparkle with a scatter of sequins from my stash.

Hello spring hello.

Loving Limeade

Looking back through some layouts I created with the super fun December 2012 Hip Kit, I realized that I created two layouts using the American Crafts Limeade cardstock as my base. I'm oddly drawn to this bright, chartreuse green color...it's fresh, energetic and happy. I think it looks yummy when combined with turquoise, red & mustard yellow...

(Oh how I wish I were here right now for some surf, sunshine & sand!)

On both of these layouts I used the Heidi Swapp Color Shine (one of my current favorite products!)
If you haven't tried it yet...just warning you now that you'll want one in EVERY color. It has this wonderful, iridescent shine. I used 'Mustard' on the layout above (with the Studio Calico Chevron mask) and 'Tropicana Teal' on the layout below (with the Balzer Designs Mini Life Strips mask from The Crafter's Workshop.)

What's your favorite color combo and product right now? Anything that you just can't live without...that I must get my hands on?
Have a creative day!

A Beautiful Life

Hi friends!
Welcome to Wednesday.
Here's another layout I created with product from the super happy December Hip Kit...

Life certainly is a crazy ride...lots of ups and downs. Seems like so many people I know have family or friends that are dealing with the 'downs' lately. This layout helps me remember to celebrate the beautiful, joyful moments life brings.

That fun arrow (a piece from the Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go diecuts) is pointing at my hubby and our friend Dave. They were taking a dip in the Pacific when we were in Kona in October. LOVE that amazing, clear blue water...

Wishing you a bit of sunshine in your day...wherever you may be.

May Hip Kit

Hello friends!
I have been playing with the May Hip Kit and am absolutely loving it! It's such a fun, happy, colorful kit to create with.

The Studio Calico Chevron mask that is part of the Embellishment Kit is fantastic and I'm having so much fun playing with it. Here's a card I created using this mask and the Mister Huey's Real Red mist that is also included in the Embellishment kit...

I love how the red mist looks when used on the American Crafts Fireberry cardstock...allowing the chevron pattern to create some great texture without stealing the show!
All of the other goodies can be found in the main May Hip Kit.

Hope this inspires you to get out your kit, mist and mask...and play!

Simple Cards

Happy Friday!
Today I wanted to share a couple of simple cards that I created with product from the March Hip Kit.

I love the October Afternoon Little Flyers in this kit...they just shout 'time to party!' Shall we celebrate a birthday or the arrival of spring with this card?

The grid stamp I used in the background is from the American Crafts Jared clear stamp set found in the March Embellishment Add-On Kit.

And this next card is soooooo super simple. It took no time at all! Which is perfect for me...because I always seem to need a birthday card at the very last minute!

The Pebbles dimensional embellishments from the kit are exactly 1" in diameter. So I used a 1" circle punch to create three circles out of the cheery yellow polka dot paper, lined them up, stitched them down...added the cute Pebbles embellishment (which already had stitching down the middle), added a sentiment using a Rubber Soul stamp...and there you have it! Super fun and simple birthday card!

For more daily inspiration, be sure to visit the Hip 2B Square blog and check out what the other designers have been creating with the March kit!

ps...Don't forget that there's still time to play along with the 'Show Me Your Chevron' theme over at the Paper Issues blog. There are fabulous kits up for grabs...and tons of inspiration! Be sure to link up by tomorrow, April 14th, for a chance to win! I didn't realize how much 'chevron' is in my stash...and it's sooooo fun!

Coming Out of Hibernation

Is it spring yet?!?
Were you wondering when I was going to be coming out of hibernation?
I've missed you friends.
I can't believe how long it has been. Far too long. But I'm back! And the creative energy is flowing...

Since I haven't been here in so long, I'm not even sure where to begin! (Do you ever feel like that?!?)
For today, here are the cards that I created using the December Hip Kit (Yep, you read it right...December. We've got some catching up to do!)...

I love those October Afternoon Farmhouse Collection Flower Sack embellishments! I little bit of layering, some stitching & a splash of my favorite Mister Huey mists in Calico White and Dark Calico are all it took to create this quick & simple card!

I love Mister Huey...and I LOVE washi tape. So I was really excited to find the black & white dotted SMASH Tape included in this Hip Kit!

I think this next card is just plain happy...just because. And it's in the mail and on its way to a sweet friend as I type.

Lots of fun patterns & colors in this kit...

Fun October Afternoon 5 & Dime Alpha stickers...

and the great Remarks stickers from the American Crafts Chap collection...

That's it for today...but stay tuned for more! I'm back for good!
