Altered Frames

Hi friends!
Have been trying to organize some of my photo folders and ran across photos of these altered frame projects that I had worked on a while back so thought I'd share...

I started with these plain, wood framed mirrors and using some matte Mod Podge, patterned paper, paint, rub-ons and various other embellishments, this is what they turned into...

This paper from the Sassafras Lass 'Mix and Mend' collection is one of my all time favorites! Lovely texture and lots of vintage goodness. The Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue spool button and pattern tissue paper worked perfect with it to create the pretty little cluster of embellishments in the bottom corner!

I used a lot of different papers, stickers and rub-ons on the second frame for lots of texture and more of a collage feel (and a fantastic way to use up the scrap stash!!)...

These were such a fun project to work on. Since both of those were donated to a fundraiser, I guess I'll have to make myself another one! Think I'll go get my paints out and get messy...

Lemonade Anyone?

It's a beautiful morning here...clear, blue skies and sparkling sunshine. A perfect August day. Can't get any better than that! Well, it could...if only it were a day with no 'to do' list and nothing but time to sit by the pool, with a stack of magazines and some icy pink lemonade. (If only we had a pool and I had no 'to do' list! A girl can dream...)

Speaking of lemonade though, here's a quick and easy little project I made with the June Hip Kit from Hip 2B Square...

It took no time at all to spruce up this cardboard drink carrier with some Basic Grey patterned paper from their Out of Print collection, the decorative edge from a piece of Sassafras Lass Paper Crush Pitter Patter paper, a pretty Sassafras Sunshine Foldie, the perfect 'Where's the Lemonade?' die cut from Jillibean's Watermelon Gazpacho collection (isn't 'gazpacho' a fun word to say?), a sweet little Maya Road gingham posie and some ribbon.

Wishing you very happy Tuesday...and a chance to sneak in something fun that is not on your 'to do' list!

Some Happy Hip Kit Projects

Playing with the May Hip Kit from Hip 2B Square was such fun! Here are a few of the layouts that I created with this delightful kit...

On this layout I used Studio Calico's Mister Huey in Schoolhouse Red & Lunch Tray to create the star background. A package of Studio Calico's wood veneer stars is included in this kit, so after I punched out the star shapes, I used the negative for a mask, then added a bit of machine stitching to give the stars some texture.

On this double page layout I didn't have enough of the Studio Calico State Fair patterned chipboard alphabet to finish my title, so I mixed it up a bit and added a few sparkly Thickers from my stash which worked out great!

I love how these pinwheels turned out when I used the 'All Systems Go' patterned paper from the October Afternoon Rocket Age collection and the adorable Crate Paper buttons...so fun!

I love the look of mixing different fonts and alphabets together. Here's my take on that technique with the title on this layout. (This layout is a lot brighter in person, so bear with me, as I continue to try to master photographing projects. Our Pacific Northwest weather doesn't help the lighting any!)

Love these State Fair Die Cut Tags from Studio Calico. So bright and fun!

Thanks for letting me share, friends! Hope you're having a happy and creative day!

Life is Sweet

Life is definitely sweet over at Paper Issues!
It is time to link up your sweet projects - layouts, cards, altered items - if it includes paper, just link it!

Since I think new babies make life pretty darn sweet, here's a card I created for my friend Mandy that just announced she is expecting on New Year's Eve!

I used some super sweet 'Magical Forest' patterned paper from Pebble's Ever After collection (I adore the little woodland friends on that paper!), a bit of the 'Perfect' textured craft polka dot paper from Pebble's New Arrival collection, a Crate Paper cardstock sticker (that was designed exclusively for Studio Calico!), a sweet Bloomer from BasicGrey and another blossom from Sassafras. I also added some of my favorite Mini Market alphas in pink from October Afternoon.

You have until July 30th to link up your Life is Sweet projects here. Hope you play along! I can't wait to see what you're inspired to create!

'Lovely As A Lullaby'...

...was Cath's Tuesday Trigger this week over at Moxie Fab World.

I love that grey polka dot fabric, the pop of aqua blue against the neutrals and the frayed edges. Here is my interpretation of this week's Tuesday Trigger...

A little bit of My Mind's Eye patterned paper from the adorable Stella and Rose 'Hattie' collection...a little bit of Sassafras (oh how I love those vintage looking metal flowers!) and a little bit of white linen from my fabric stash. For the sentiment, I stamped directly on the linen with black StayzOn ink - totally love how that worked!

Did you play along?

Just a few cards...

I feel like I should be posting Father's Day card ideas today...but here to confess...I actually bought cards at Target the other night for the dear dads in our life! I am such a slacker. LOL

So instead, here are a few other cards that I hope inspire you...

Love those Sassafras Paper Whimsies! I just never get tired of them. They're fabulous for adding extra dimension to projects...crinkle, snip, layer! They make such fun, whimsical flower embellishments.

Blossom Soup from Jillibean Soup is so, so sweet. Love the little bicycles and sweet sentiments. The stickers are perfect accents for cards...

This card was based on this sketch from Mojo Monday...

I turned it couterclockwise & voila!

All of the products I used for these cards can be found in the April Hip Kit from Hip 2B Square...Crate Paper goodness, American Crafts goodness, Jillibean Soup and Sassafras goodness!

Wishing you every happiness this Friday, friends.
Let the weekend begin!

A Burst of Blooms

With all the grey, rainy days we've been having lately, what a welcome sight this bright, sunny Tuesday Trigger from Cath over at Moxie Fab World is...

Here's the card I was inspired to create...

I love the dimension you can create by layering the super cute Sassafras paper whimsies...

And I love all the happy colors with the dash of turquoise in the Tuesday Trigger image. Yum! Go check out Cath's Burst of Blooms Tuesday Trigger here...there's still time to play along!

Hello March

Oh my! Time flies! How are you friends? Hope you've had a happy & creative last couple of weeks...and that March is off to a grand start for you.

Here the birds are starting to sing in the morning, the purple crocus and pistachio colored hellebores are blooming in our garden and the daffodils and jonquils are starting to sprout up from the wet dirt. Spring is getting near and that makes me sooooo happy!

Another thing that makes me happy? My '10 Favorites' layout was featured last week on Write.Click.Scrapbook. (Thanks Lisa!) I think it's about time I create a new layout of my current favorites!

I've had loads of creative stuff going on in my life lately...I just need more hours in my day to work on all the fun ideas and projects buzzing around in my head!
For now, here are a few of my most recent projects created with the January Hip Kit...

(I absolutely adore this old photo of our Godson, Alex. Love this sweet boy.)

A flap from one of the Maya Road envelopes in the kit was perfect for a hidden journaling spot. I painted and distressed the little chipboard birds and cut a leaf (from the Sassafras Garden Bits Chipboard) in half to use for little wings. Love these little bluebirds of happiness!

I found this quote on Ali Edwards' blog...and the font is her fantastic handwriting.
{I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well. - Diane Ackerman} Isn't that a fabulous quote?

This next layout features a photo of our beautiful nieces who were the flower girls at our wedding...ten years ago. I don't think it took too much encouraging to get this sassy photo of them!

For one of the flowers in this cluster, I just deconstructed one of the Maya Road Gingham Fabric Blossoms...

For our double page layout  this month, the team used this CK sketch for inspiration...

Here's what I came up with...

For this layout, I deconstructed one of the pink Maya Road Gingham Blossoms. This time I took the blossom completely apart to create the fabric ties...

 A couple of cards...

And a fun mini book...

Thanks for stopping by friends! Hope to see you soon.
